2001 Sakonnet 23 Sailboat

$49,950.00

2001 Sakonnet 23 sailboat includes the loft-serviced main and roller furling jib sails, teak floorboards and cockpit seat trim, epoxy barrier coat, a/f bottom painting, and white hull color.

The Edey & Duff sales brochure reminds us, “Naval architect Joel White sought to design a very simple boat that offers "good speed, comfortable seating for four, and good looks." A properly designed daysailer, says White, "gives the maximum in boating pleasure for the dollars spent." The Sakonnet 23 is a simple boat to sail and enjoy. With a moderate sail area-to-displacement ratio, narrow 6-foot beam, and light displacement, the Sakonnet easily reaches hull speed in light as well as moderate winds. Her low center of gravity combined with a 920-pound bulbed keel and ballasted centerboard ensure a safe, comfortable sail. Shoal draft of 22 inches (with the centerboard up) makes her well suited for gunkholing and beaching and her narrow beam and shallow keel make trailering easy. Refreshingly handsome from all angles, super-swift, and with just enough teak trim to accent her low, traditional lines, this distinctive double-ender is ideal for the sailor who wants a roomy, inshore daysailer for weekend and evening sailing with family and friends.”

Their website reminds us, “Formerly built by Edey & Duff out of Mattapoisett, Marshall Marine acquired the molds and building rights to the Sakonnet 23 in 2010. This is a classic Joel White designed daysailer, with a shoal draft. Her unique double ended design and graceful shear will surely be the envy of any harbor. She sails effortlessly in virtually any breeze, barely leaving a wake. There are over 100 Sakonnets spread out across the United States, being enjoyed for family daysailing, singlehanding and racing.”

Regarding the Sakonnet, can you advise regarding the following?

Yes, Stan.

Is the teak oil finished or ?

The teak is refinished with teak oil.

It looks like it is set up with a side-bracket for an outboard?

We'll look for the o/b bracket when we uncover her.

There appears to be a battery switch and dials (?) on the starboard aft
bulkhead?

The boat came to us with a frozen electric pod motor.  We removed it.

Not sure about the switches.

What is the age/make of sails? Is roller-furler a jib or genoa?

Other than the newer Hathaway roller-furling headsail, please assume the Harding mainsail and headsail, and the loose blue/white/green spinnaker sail are original equipment.  The sails have been washed, checked, repaired, and are stored "in good sailing condtion" in our loft.

Condition of standing rigging and running rigging?

It looks good; the S/R and R/R must also be "in good sailing condition" when a boat is sold from our yard.

Lazy jacks?

Not sure, but we always have the Harken parts in stock.

Windex at masthead?

Not sure, but we always have the windex in stock.

Has cb pennant been renewed?

Not sure.  We lowered the CB for inspection and would have replaced the pennant if we had any concerns about its condtion.

Assume there is a cockpit cover and sail cover? Condition?

There is a tan-colored Harding mainsail cover included.  It, too, has been serviced and stored in our sail loft.

My notes don't indicate there being a cockpit cover with this boat.

How many owners?

One

Has boat been surveyed?

No

Feel free to make additional remarks and I can also follow-up with phone.

Bottom paint is fresh Micron CSC.

No trailer is included, but may be purchased separately from us.
